First off let me apologize for being such a slacker on posting lately! Let me fill you in on what's been going with us. Before all this crazy weather hit I started FCC training classes. FCC stands for Family Child Care, which basically means I am starting my own day care business out of our home. This is a great program that the Army provides that will allow me to stay at home with Ty while caring for other soldier's children at my home! Josh and I really need to make some more money, but I can't stand the thought of leaving Ty all day, so this is an awesome alternative! So, my FCC classes were interrupted by the ice storm, and I am now making up the classes I missed this week. I am learning that there is a lot more to all this than I originally thought! I have to go through three different inspections, safety, fire and health, before I can open. I have been working like mad to get this house child-proofed, cleaned, and up to day care standards! My last inspection is next Wednesday. Hopefully I will pass with flying colors and be ready to open my day care soon!
Josh has been working hard in school these past few weeks. He usually gets up between 4 or 5 AM, and sometimes doesn't get home until 7 PM...talk about a long day!! He had to go to class last Saturday and Sunday to make up for the days he was off during the ice storm, so he hasn't had much of a break lately. When he gets home from school, I have been bugging him to help me get this house ready for my FCC inspections, so he has really been busting his bum! Poor guy! He has been acing all of his tests, though, and is having fun learning all about the Bradley's, Up-Armored Humvees, and all the weapons involved, including the .255 mm, .50 cal, M240B and M240C machine guns. He is also trained on the MK-19 automatic grenade launcher. Today Josh was telling me about how he got rolled over in a Humvee (on purpose). It's basically a humvee on a free-swinging rack. The soldiers get inside and buckle up. The rack is hydraulically spun into barrel rolls simulating a humvee roll-over accident. The humvee is frozen in an upside-down position, and the soldiers are told to release their seat belts, find the one door that will open, evacuate the humvee, and set up a security perimeter (while trying not to throw up, lol!). Armor school has been hard work for Josh so far, but he is really enjoying it!
Ty is 5 months old today, and getting bigger by the minute! He is always taking everything in, and is constantly entertaining us with new things he has learned, or the new squeals he makes! He has been doing great eating up his cereal, but it seems to have constipated the poor, little guy! Our pediatrician told us to wait on baby food until he was 6 months, but we decided to go ahead and start (slowly) with vegetables, thinking that it would help with the constipation problem. So, this week, we started feeding him sweet potatoes! He loves them! We're looking forward to his reaction when he tries his next veggie! Our good friend and neighbor, Melissa, has been watching Ty this week for us while I have been in class (thanks, Melissa!). Melissa has two boys, Mason (3) and Hayden (10 months). Ty absolutely LOVES playing with those two boys! He just laughs and laughs at them! We're so blessed to have such awesome neighbors right across the street from us!
So, that is what has been going on in our lives lately! We have been busy, busy, busy! Below is a pic of Ty eating his sweet potatoes, and a video of his new favorite thing to do!
There's nothing like sweet potatoes and fingers...yum, yum!

That photo is cracking me up w/ his fist in his mouth eating!! Constipation - give him some baby jar prunes! And keep some on hand for emergencies. Congrats to Josh for getting rolled over in Humvee - sounds like fun and getting to use a gernade launcher! I'm sure you will pass inspection. If I did that I wouldn't cause I'm a slob!
I am so glad the he loves the sweet potatoes. Morgan loved them as well. I love the video of Ty sucking on his big toe. Do you remember when we were down visiting and that was Morgan's favorite thing to do? Be assured that he will out grow it. Watch giving him too much prunes. Just a couple bites will do the trick. We made the mistake of giving Liam a whole stage 1 jar of prunes and he exploded everywhere. We miss you and can't wait until we see you guys again!
Glad that everything is okay. Sorry Josh is working such long hours during a busy time for you as well. Let me know if you're coming home soon or if we can schedule a time to come down.
Lisa! Hey babycakes! I'm not terribly good at checking things online, what with chasing Joey everywhere and such, but I was sooo excited to see your comment. I've been checking out that handsome little guy sucking on his big toe...wow! That is quite the trick! He's beautiful. I'm happy to hear that things are going well (not something you usually say when someone mentions rolling a Humvee...lol)with you and yours. I am glad you've decided to do the child care thing. As a person who uses an in home child care provider, there's something to be said for the family and at home feel about it. You're going to be fabulous! Keep in touch. I've got to go watch that video again...gotta love the toe! Oh, and yeah, we us the prune trick alot still...it works...our doc says all the "p" fruits work...but prunes seem to be the quickest.
