Can you tell Ty is our first born?

We hope we are as good at taking pictures and documenting Bib Dos' "firsts" as we are for our firstborn son, Ty! All our posts have been about Ty lately...we are having so much fun documenting his "firsts"!

Ty got his first haircut last night! He was getting a little shaggy over the ears, and Josh said he was growing a mullet in the back, so we decided to get him a little trim. I don't know how the hairdresser did it because Ty is such a wiggle worm, but she managed to trim him up good! She gave us the first few locks of hair as a memento. We are going to put it in his baby book! He looks so cute with his new "do"...like a little man!
BEFORE:
DURING: Ty was fascinated with the comb the hairdresser gave him!
AFTER: No more shag around the ears, and the mullet is gone!
In other news....
This is my first week of freedom! My daycare is officially closed, and I am loving it! I am now just a stay-at-home mommy, trying to enjoy my last few months with Ty before Bib Dos makes his grand entrance into the world. Josh is happy to have our house (and his non-stressed out wife) back. We are doing great, and are looking forward to lots more family time!
Ty is growing everyday and learning by leaps and bounds! I'm not sure he knows what to think about not having the daycare kids (and toys) around anymore. He likes having mommy's undivided attention again, but I think he misses having his "buddies" around to entertain and play with him! I will have to make sure to take him to lots of playgroups and play dates! He is so close to walking! He stands on his own now, and runs up and down the furniture...as long as he has something to hold onto. Any day now we expect him to just go for it without any help! He had his one year doctor's appointment this week, and it was a rough one! He had to get 2 shots in each leg, and then they even took a couple vials of blood to test him for anemia and lead poisoning. That was not fun for Ty OR Mommy! I had to hold the poor boy down while they stuck that needle in his arm. He took it like a champ, and he is all better now! Gosh it's hard to watch your baby in pain, though! He still only weighs 18 pounds, 10 ounces. We were hoping he'd be at the 20 lb. mark so we could switch his car seat around, but he fell short just a bit. We also discovered he wasn't tolerating cow's milk very well (had a bad rash all around his mouth and body) so we cut out all dairy, and are giving him soy milk. His rash cleared up instantly, and he seems to be doing fine with the soy milk! We decided to take the bottle completely away. No more bottles for Ty. We were worried about doing it, but he is taking it just fine! I am glad we are doing it now because he doesn't even realize it's gone! So, that is what's going on in Ty's world!

Ty's B-day, and more!

Unfortunately, I didn't get very many pictures of Ty's first birthday party. I guess I was just too wrapped up in the party to think of taking pics. My brother was nice enough to take some videos with our video camera, though (thanks, Billy). So when I get a chance to get them uploaded, I will post some videos. Here are some that I did get:

As you can see, we had a Batman themed first B-day party (Josh's idea, of course!)

Even though I don't have an artistic bone in my body, I decided to make the cake. It sure wasn't very professional-looking, but it tasted okay, and I had fun trying! :-)

Ty wasn't sure what to think about digging into this bright yellow thing with everyone staring at him, but he did have icing all over him!

Daddy and Ty in their Batman shirts!
Ty loved all his gifts, and boy did he get spoiled!!! Thanks to everyone who made the trip to Fort Knox for his special day! It meant so much to us that you were all there! We love you all!
Here's what else is going on in our lives:
Josh got promoted to First Lieutenant last week! We are so proud of him! Wish I had a picture of his promotion ceremony, but I didn't get any. :-(
Josh is no longer going to Ranger School in October. His commander decided it wasn't good timing with me so far along in my pregnancy. He didn't want to risk Josh being stuck in Ranger School and missing the birth of baby #2. So, the Lord answered our prayers, and Josh will not have to leave before the baby gets here...YAY! Josh will still go to Ranger School, but it will most likely be sometime in May. This is a huge blessing to us, and we are so thankful that Josh is in a unit that cares so much about him and his family!
Before we realized that Josh wasn't going to go to Ranger School, we made the decision that I would close the day care. We didn't want the hassle of dealing with all the day care entails while Josh was away, and I was in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. We decided I would close on September 18. After we found out that Josh wasn't going to Ranger School, we decided that I would still go ahead and close. That way I can enjoy my last few months of just the three of us, before we turn into a family of four! I am so grateful to be closing the day care! I loved the kids I had, but we are looking forward to getting our house back (day care stuff was taking over our house!), and our family time back.
So, that, in a nutshell, is what has been going on for us lately! The Lord has blessed us with so much this summer, and we are so grateful for everything that is happening in our lives right now!

Oh my goodness...can it be?

Our baby boy is 1 year old today?!?!

We cannot believe how the time has flown! One year ago today we were in the hospital giving birth to our precious baby Ty! Of course we had a big birthday party for Ty today, and I promise to post some pics soon. Mommy and Daddy just wanted to say Happy First Birthday to our awesome, little man!
